The Hunter Biden saga continues as a new report shows that the Secret Service may have intervened in a firearm-related incident a few years ago.
The Incident
The new report details an incident involving Hunter Biden and his brother’s widow, whom Hunter was in a relationship with from 2016 to 2018. In October of 2018, Hallie Biden allegedly took Hunter’s gun, and threw it into a trash can behind a grocery store. After telling Hunter Biden of the incident, he sent her to retrieve it, but she couldn’t find it.
The incident prompted an investigation from the Delaware State Police and the FBI, as the trash can was near a local high school. This led law enforcement to question Hunter Biden, who “became very agitated” when asked if the firearm was used to commit a crime, according to a copy of the police report.
He then pivoted the conversation, telling officers that Hallie Biden had been concerned about his mental state, and worried that he may commit suicide. This excuse is important, as often when police are informed about the possibility of suicide, they become completely distracted from the possibility of a crime, and instead focus on the mental health aspect of the incident.
Coverup?
Politico reported: “Secret Service agents approached the owner of the store where Hunter bought the gun and asked to take the paperwork involving the sale, according to two people, one of whom has firsthand knowledge of the episode and the other was briefed by a Secret Service agent after the fact.”
The gun store owner was immediately concerned about the possibility of a coverup, and refused to provide the paperwork, “suspecting that the Secret Service officers wanted to hide Hunter’s ownership of the missing gun in case it were to be involved in a crime… The owner, Ron Palmieri, later turned over the papers to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which oversees federal gun laws,” according to Politico.
The report reveals that there was no official Secret Service record of the incident, despite the fact that the Secret Service was unofficially managing the Biden family’s security at the time. The White House claims that Biden “did not have any knowledge of, or involvement in, the Secret Service’s alleged role in this incident.”
Lying on Gun Application
The report also shows that Hunter Biden lied on his application for the firearm. Politico reports:
POLITICO obtained copies of the Firearms Transaction Record and a receipt for the gun dated Oct. 12, 2018.
Hunter responded “no” to a question on the transaction record that asks, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Five years earlier, he had been discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine, and he and family members have spoken about his history of drug use.
Lying on an ATF Form 4473 is a felony, punishable by a 10-year prison sentence and a $250,000 fine.
