On Thursday, former President Donald Trump revealed that no one had informed him about the sex offender who had threatened his life in Arizona or the manhunt underway to find him.
Just six weeks after Trump was literally shot in the face by a would-be assassin who injured two other Trump supporters and murdered a hero firefighter, the Republican presidential nominee faced yet another assassination threat.
It was revealed on Thursday that Ronald Lee Syvrud — a 66-year-old man from Arizona who was already wanted by police for failing to register as a sex offender — had made unspecified threats on Trump’s life in posts on social media. This news came as Trump was in Arizona to visit the U.S.-Mexico border and speak to reporters about the ongoing border crisis.

Syvrud was eventually captured on Thursday evening, but not before Trump risked his life by speaking to the press outside along the southern border in a clearly vulnerable situation. Despite facing these threats, law enforcement failed to notify Trump or keep him from speaking outside where he was clearly vulnerable to an attack.
While speaking with reporters about border security and the illegal alien crime epidemic, a reporter asked Trump whether he had been informed about the threat on his life or the manhunt for the suspect.
“For the Daily Mail, today there was a manhunt going on in this county, somebody made death threats to you,” the reporter said. “Did you hear about that before coming?”
“No,” Trump replied.
The reporter then followed up the question by asking Trump what his thoughts were about the danger he was facing, asking: “What are your thoughts coming down here? Some people told me it’s dangerous for you to be here.”
“I’ve heard it’s dangerous, but I also have a job to do,” Trump responded. “I heard it’s very dangerous, I hadn’t heard about that. They probably want to keep it from me.”
“Thank you for telling me,” he continued, laughing while looking over his shoulder and joking to his Secret Service detail: “Let’s get outta here, right now.”
“No, thank you very much for saying, but no, and I have great respect for Secret Service, the job they do — including a month and a half ago when they were jumping on top of me with bullets flying right at them, so … no, I haven’t heard that, but I’m not that surprised. The reason is because I want to do things that are very bad for the bad guys,” Trump added.
